AFL 2010 long shots Port Adelaide have trimmed their side ahead of the start of pre-season training.

The work begins in two weeks and Adelaide have delisted Nick Lower and Jonathan Giles, AFL.com reports, ahead of the start of preparations.

Lower's chances evaporated this season when the club went with the likes of Hamish Hartlett, Matthew Broadbent and Paul Stewart.

Ruckman Giles has also been delisted after failing to play a game in four years; he was initially touted as a potential successor to Brendon Lade.

Football operations manager Peter Rohde said: "With restricted lists in the AFL it’s an unfortunate thing that every year a couple of players will miss out.

"Both Jon and Nick have been quality people to have around the footy club, and we thank them for that and wish them all the best."
IASbet's early 2010 AFL Premiership market has Port Adelaide at 41.00, level with Sydney.

At the top of the betting St Kilda remain current early favourites, on odds of 4.00, just ahead of this season's winners Geelong Cats, at 4.20. Western Bulldogs are on 6.50 and Hawthorn are on 9.00.

Brisbane, among the more active sides in trade week, having sealed the service of full-forward Brendan Fevola, are now considered by some pundits as being genuine contenders. They are on odds of 13.00 with the same bookmaker.
