Injury problems for St Kilda have thrown up some interesting AFL betting issues ahead of the team's tie with Hawthorn on Saturday.

On Wednesday some betting agencies actually suspended their markets for the game, following big interest in Hawthorn, but many are expected to re-start ahead of the clash.

Anyone who has had a punt on the Saints going unbeaten through the season will also have a concerned eye on the side's absences going into Saturday's Aurora Stadium clash.

AAP reports captain Nick Riewoldt is out due to concussion while midfielders Leigh Montagna, Brendon Goddard, and Lenny Hayes are also on the sidelines for this one.

Many see Saturday's tie as the hardest test for the Saints as they head into the home straight.

On Thursday Betfair had odds of 5.0 for Hawthorn to win by more than 39.5 points or 2.3 to win by under 39.5 points – a possible decent shot if betting on a straight Hawthorn win remains unavailable.

Quoted by the Herald Sun, The Hawks' Jordan Lewis said: "Coming off a disappointing loss to Port Adelaide we really want to match ourselves against the best team in the competition.

"It's probably a do-or-die game for us against the best team in the competition, and what better place to do it than in Tassie, where we're comfortable with the surroundings."
