Collingwood Magpies defender Heath Shaw believes he may have found a great player to make up a spot in his teams' midfield section and improve their AFL odds.He feels that Luke Ball would be an ideal accompaniment to his team's midsection efforts. Ball did not make the cut when he tried to get into Collingwood last month, and he has followed up that let down with a draft nomination in Thursday's NAB AFL draft.
Ball, a 123 game player, would be welcomed into the Collingwood fold, says Shaw.
Quoted by afl.com, he said: "He'd fit into any midfield pretty nicely, I'd think."
"He's obviously a quality player, he's been around the traps for a while and he's been captain of his former club."
Collingwood had some business to take care of this week, leaving Melbourne for their annual training camp stay in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Shaw made it clear that his team were looking forward to the training expedition. Speaking to afl.com, he added: "The boys are really looking forward to it. There are a couple of boys who haven't been over there before so they're excited about it."
Collingwood are on at 1.38 to reach the top 8 this year.
