West Coast Eagles AFL Flag odds look way too short after only 6 Rounds of 2012

 Back in February you could have backed the West Coast Eagles at odds of $19.00 to win the 2012 AFL Flag. At the time of writing the best odds available are just $5.00 with Sportsbet.com.au

Sitting at the top of the ladder with 24 points out of 24, the Eagles are looking a step ahead of the rest. But let's take a closer look at their start to the season:

Round 1: Western Bulldogs 87 - 136 West Coast
Round 2: West Coast 166 - 58 Melbourne
Round 3: GWS Giants 69 - 150 West Coast
Round 4: West Coast 51 - 46 Hawthorn
Round 5: Richmond 97 - 107 West Coast
Round 6: West Coast 120 - 95 North Melbourne

Every single one of the teams beaten by West Coast is in the bottom half of the AFL ladder, and only Hawthorn are shorter odds than $51.00 to win the 2012 AFL Premiership.

You can only beat what team is put in front of you, and West Coast are becoming prolific at doing that. But does that make them genuine Flag contenders?

How will the Eagles fare come cold nights at the MCG against Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon?
