State of Origin Odds: Here Comes Game Two
June 17th, 2014 by TJ DilferThe mind games are in full swing, with the war of words heating up with every volley from the players and coaches. The injuries – mostly to key Maroons players – will need to be monitored very closely, but Blues coach Laurie Daley has already written the rumours off as mind games, and we’re curious to see if there’s any last minute change in the State of Origin odds if Slater, Inglis and Cherry-Evans pull up fit. Daley is convinced they will play.
And so the Blues have Read the rest of this entry »

June 17th, 2014 by G WaldorfIt was a busy first weekend at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, to say the least. We spent the month or so before the tournament kicked off in Brazil trying (mostly in vain, as it turned out) to predict what sort of drama would unfold, and we weren’t the only ones – pundits all around the world made their pronouncements. And then things got underway with Brazil and Croatia. There was a whiff of controversy, but the result was the one everyone expected. Mexico won, as well, and then Spain and the Netherlands turned the World Cup on its head, and all bets were off! With the reigning champions on the wrong end of five goals, there have been changes in the World Cup odds we’re seeing, and Read the rest of this entry »

June 17th, 2014 by TJ DilferThere are few sporting contests that are more fierce, or more ferociously contested, than the State of Origin. In fact, we can’t think of any just off the top of our heads. The guys who pull on the blue and maroon jerseys know they’re in for the battle of their lives each and every series. And this year’s State of Origin has already set the bar incredibly high: the Blues in particular showed amazing commitment in defense, and that’s why the State of Origin odds are in their favour for the series win that will Read the rest of this entry »

June 16th, 2014 by G WaldorfThe headlines didn’t feature the Socceroos after the opening shots were fired in Group B of the 2014 FIFA World Cup – all eyes were on the astonishing result of the Spain – Netherlands game. And rightly so. That’s just the sort of shock result that can really light up a World Cup in the early stages, and one that could open up the group to the advantage of a team like Australia. Unfortunately, Australia were unable to find a result against Chile, and the Australia World Cup odds have lengthened accordingly…

June 16th, 2014 by TJ DilferThe first game of this year’s State of Origin blew us away. It was tense, exciting, brutal and hard-fought – and it blew away lots of predictions about the series, too. Where NSW came into Game One with some of the worst State of Origin odds in a long while, their Game Two odds are as short as any we can remember.

June 13th, 2014 by G WaldorfSo the World Cup has started, and Brazil have maintained their unblemished record: they remain unbeaten in the first game of any World Cup, and their 2014 World Cup campaign is off and running.
