AFL Odds: Bring On 2015…

October 2nd, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

An AFL Finals Series has a way of leaving us breathless, and to be honest a little rest from all the tension could be just what a few AFL fans all around the country need, especially after a season that featured some tight games and more than a few shocks. That said, the other thing that a Finals Series does is whet the appetite for more footie, and there’s no harm in taking a look ahead to the 2015 season, and having a glance over the AFL odds for next year, too…

Melbourne Spring Odds: Sacred Falls Wins George Main Stakes

October 2nd, 2014 by Pom de Turf

By all accounts, Chris Waller could easily have come into the 2014 Spring Season with Sacred Falls in his stables, with his owners seriously considering taking him away from Racing. If they hadn’t decided to back Waller’s feeling that Sacred Falls was only getting better, then Waller would have been missing the other half of a fantastic cross-State double a couple of weekends ago, and there would have been a great prospect missing from the Racing odds for the rest of the Spring Season.

As it was, Sacred Falls and Foreteller delivered the goods for Waller within minutes of each other, and neither has done their reputations any harm at all. Particularly pleasing for Sacred Falls’ handlers was Read the rest of this entry »

October 2nd, 2014 by Pom de Turf

There’s little doubt that Silent Achiever is a classy addition to the 2014 Melbourne Spring, and she’ll be popular with punters when she appears in the Racing odds for big races – but will the Melbourne Cup be one of those races? Silent Achiever has always been Read the rest of this entry »

NRL Grand Final Odds, Markets And Specials

October 2nd, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

It’s going to be the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs, then, in the 2014 Grand Final. And that means there will be some real nerves in the Sydney dressing room before Sunday night’s game – they haven’t lifted the silverware since 1971, and their fans are getting desperate. Fatigue, meanwhile, is more likely to be a factor than nerves for the Bulldogs after three tough finals battles in three weeks, and the Canterbury physio team will be working overtime to get the players patched up and fighting fit – and that includes stricken talisman Michael Ennis, whose fractured foot must mean he’s far more likely not to play than to play.

But which way are the NRL odds showing for Sunday’s game? At Sportsbet today, it’s Read the rest of this entry »

Melbourne Spring Odds: Foreteller Takes Underwood Stakes

October 2nd, 2014 by Pom de Turf

Chris Waller had a weekend to relish the week before last, with a couple of big winners coming home within minutes of each other. The first was Sacred Falls in the George Main Stakes, and then Foreteller put in a strong performance to take the Underwood Stakes a State away, confirming both as horses to watch in the Racing odds as we go through the Melbourne Spring…

Racing Odds: Opportunity Abounds In 2014 Melbourne Cup

October 2nd, 2014 by Pom de Turf

Just about a month or so out from the 2014 Melbourne Cup, and Gai Waterhouse’s The Offer is still the favourite, though Bande has joined him at $12.00. Expect to see some changes in those Racing odds over the next month, though, if Racing Victoria’s Greg Carpenter’s predictions are anything to go by. The man charged with the difficult task of handling the weight allocations for this year’s Race That Stops A Nation is on record saying that this year could be the ‘Melbourne Cup of opportunity’ – he reckons the race is wide open, and that more than a few horses have a chance of coming away with the laurels.

And one of the factors in the race that will Read the rest of this entry »

AFL Odds: Triumph For Hawthorn

October 1st, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

Hawthorn are the 2014 AFL Premiers after a decisive win over the much-fancied Swans, and the win marks a very impressive achievement: back-to-back Grand Final wins. It’s surely the sort of achievement that will strengthen the case that says this Hawks side deserves to be regarded alongside the very best – they have shown a consistency throughout the 2014 season that can only have been a pleasure for their fans to watch, and whilst the AFL odds may have been against them, they showed that they have class to spare with a comprehensive victory.

Hawks captain Luke Hodge had a night to remember – his Read the rest of this entry »

Melbourne Cup Odds: Dandino On Track

October 1st, 2014 by Pom de Turf

It sounds like Dandino’s options for the 2014 Melbourne Cup are being kept open – he looks like he’s more certain to feature in the Racing odds for the Melbourne Cup than for the Caulfield Cup, and owner Darren Dance will be weighing up Read the rest of this entry »

NRL Odds: Rabbitohs Vs Bulldogs In Grand Final

October 1st, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

While Hawthorn were able to bag a second Premiership last weekend, defending NRL Premiers the Roosters found themselves dumped out of the 2014 Finals Series in the most painful way possible: with a defeat to close neighbours the Rabbitohs. The NRL odds we’re seeing as of today tell us that the Rabbitohs go into the Grand Final as favourites, too, with odds of just $1.38 on Sportsbet right now.
