AFL: Odds For Sunday’s And Monday’s Games
May 8th, 2014 by TJ DilferSunday night’s football sees a milestone for GWS: Jonathan Giles will become the first man to represent the club 50 times. It’s just reward, we reckon, for the hard graft Giles has put into the franchise that breathed another lease of life into his career, and it speaks to the development of the Giants as an outfit. They would want to be in better shape in the 2014 season, of course, but they’ve struggled to find form and they’ve languishing close to the foot of the ladder. Make sure you’ve got all your Round Eight odds handy for the last couple of games in the round: GWS take on West Coast, and Monday’s game features St Kilda and Carlton.
West Coast are the overwhelming favourites to beat the Giants on Sunday, with odds of $1.08, and that’ll put a dampener on Giles’ milestone, but they won’t be worried about that – they’ll be looking for a win to take them up into the top eight, which is where they will feel like they need to be after eight rounds.
Monday night’s game could have implications at the foot of the ladder, too, with Carlton getting desperate for points to ease them away from the doldrums, and St Kilda keen to keep the pressure on the sides around them, and maybe push a step closer to the top eight themselves. Looking at the odds, it’s a much closer game than Sunday night’s, with the Blues favourites at $1.33 and the Saints getting $3.40…
