AFL: Odds For Adelaide vs Collingwood

May 14th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

Round Nine is here, and it kicks off with a game that will draw a massive crowd to the ground, and that will have AFL fans all around the country tuning it to enjoy. And it could be crunch time for the Crows. It always feels early in the season to say it, but if Adelaide register another defeat on Thursday night, then they will have it all on to get themselves up into the top eight and contest the business end of the season. You can see all the odds for Round Nine by following the link – can Adelaide beat those odds?

It’s a monumental task ahead of the Crows on Thursday night, against a Collingwood side that have found some good form in recent weeks, and who will be looking for their fifth straight win when they square off against Adelaide. There’s some good news, at least, in the return of key Crows from injury lay-offs ahead of the big Adelaide Oval clash, but the same can be said of the Magpies, who seem to be emerging relatively unscathed from their own injury troubles. The careful management of former Adelaide defensive coach Ben Hart is a big part of that, and he has kept a formidable defensive unit ticking in spite of forced player rotation. That defensive effort could again be vital for Collingwood, and it will be a difficult task for the Crows to break it down. Recent history is against them, as well – the Crows have only produced one win from the past nine meetings between these teams. That’s probably why you’ll get odds of $2.65 for an Adelaide win, while the Magpies are the bookies’ favourites at $1.48. You never know when a side’s backs are to the wall what they’ll produce, and if the Crows aren’t against the wall, they will be if they lose on Thursday!
