Racing: The Early Melbourne Cup Odds

We haven’t committed to a personal favourite yet, but we’re taking a look here at the horses that are making the (very) early running for the big race, so read on…
The first lady of Australian Racing saw her first Melbourne Cup winner last year when Fiorente came home, and it looks like she might have acquired a taste for that success: she has been strengthening the stable ahead of the Spring season, ready for another effort at the big race. New acquisitions Cafe Society and Pornichet are both in the early running for the Melbourne Cup according to Sportbet today, with Pornichet seeing the shorter odds of the two at $34.00, and Cafe Society currently a $51.00 bet. But there has been more attention on another Gai Waterhouse prospect, The Offer: after a runaway win in the Sydney Cup, The Offer finds himself as the current favourite for the Melbourne Cup, at odds of $13.00 on Sportsbet right now. He’s joint-favourite for the Caulfield Cup, too, on the same odds.
Now we know it’s a long way out, but someone has to set the early pace, and it looks like it’s going to be Gai Waterhouse and The Offer this year – make sure you’ve got all your Racing odds, and we’ll do our best to keep you up to date!
