NRL: Odds For Roosters And Dragons
July 3rd, 2014 by TJ DilferA week out from the third game of this year’s State of Origin series, and there will be plenty of clubs who have mixed feelings. With the series already won by a massive NSW effort, there will be clubs who don’t want to see their players put through the wringer again (and especially the physios who have to patch them up!). But there will be players who are bursting to pull on the jersey and make a name for themselves, knowing that the competition won’t be any less intense despite the series result. The reality for the clubs, though, is that we’re closing in on the business end of the season, and they need real strength in depth now more than ever. Meanwhile, all the Round 17 odds are waiting for you to cast your eye over…
And there are a couple of clubs in action on Saturday who need to make a last push if they’re going to be playing finals rugby when the time comes: both the Dragons and the Cowboys are on 16 points – that’s a couple adrift of that all-important eighth spot on the ladder, but within tantalising reach if they can find a run of wins late in the piece. This will be a key battle for both clubs, and the Cowboys go in as the underdogs with odds of $3.50, where the odds for the Dragons are $1.32.
Elsewhere, the bottom-of-the-ladder Sharks, fresh off a great win over the Broncos in the last round but suddenly without Todd Carney, face a tough challenge against a Roosters outfit that will have very real designs on silverware come the Grand Final. The odds are not looking good for the Sharks: they’re a $9.50 bet on Sportsbet right now.
