Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Lots Of Work To Do For Text’n Hurley

August 12th, 2014 by Pom de Turf

After a good win in March in the Group 2 Sportingbet Sunline Stakes over 1600m, there would have been plenty of optimism surrounding Text’n Hurley, and trainer Colin Little was looking forward to giving her a run in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington via the Aurie’s Star Handicap. She’ll have to produce better, though, to please the trainer and to feature more strongly in the Racing odds as October rolls around…

Text’n Hurley finished in seventh in that Aurie’s Star Handicap run, but that possibly didn’t flatter her, and she’s likely to be one to watch as we move into the Spring Season. She has been pretty consistent in her career to date, in fairness: five wins and five placings from 13 starts represents a decent return, and marks Text’n Hurley as one to watch. Little remains upbeat about her prospects: ‘everything’s really good with her. She’s got a great attitude and a good temperament. I’d be pretty keen to give her two 2000m races going into a Caulfield Cup. We do have a bit of faith in her getting a mile-and-a-half. We were always freshening her up in the past because the suitable Black-type races for mares were over 1600. She relaxes beautifully and she doesn’t pull in her races and one of the main reasons we think that she’ll get a mile-and-a-half is her attitude.’

If he’s right, then Text’n Hurley is a name (a slightly odd one, and one that maybe has a story behind it) that you’ll be seeing again as she features in those Racing odds for the Spring Season, and possibly for the Caulfield Cup in October…
