Either way, the dream is over for the valiant Tigers in the 2014 season. They had a remarkable, memorable run, but Richmond ran into a wall at the weekend, coming up against a Power side who seem to have rediscovered the form that saw them to the top of the pile for a good stretch of the 2014 campaign. But there’s hardly time, though, to look back at the finals that were when the next big game hits your telly screens on Friday night: Geelong, stinging from defeat at the hands of the Hawks, will have the chance to keep their season alive against North Melbourne, and it could be a cracking game. The Cats are the only top eight side in 2014 that the Roos didn’t beat in the regular season, but there’s no better time than Friday night. It’s going to be fascinating to see how the Cats bounce back from their defeat to big rivals Hawthorn, of course: the result hinged on a second-half demolition, and it will take a very robust winning attitude amongst the Cats players to get them back up and firing again so quickly. Fortunately, that’s exactly what they seem to have developed at Geelong these days, so it’s hard to write them off.
