AFL: All The Odds For The Weekend
July 29th, 2014 by TJ DilferThe Crows had a round 18 to make their fans smile, beating the Pies and leapfrogging them to claim that eighth spot on the ladder. It’s a result that has made the scrap for the last finals places pretty interesting, with Gold Coast and Collingwood both still on the same 36 points as Adelaide, but both the Suns and the Pies building bad runs of losses at maybe the worst time. So the Round 19 odds are going to make interesting reading ahead of the weekend, and there might be some movement on the AFL odds for the season, too…
And it’s the Crows who kick off the AFL action on Saturday in Round 19, in a game against West Coast. It’s a fixture that could make or break the Eagles’ 2014 campaign: a win would maybe keep them in touch with that last finals spot, while a defeat could mean they’re out of the race. The Crows, meanwhile, go into the game with great momentum, and they’ll want another win to dig themselves into the top eight.
Then there’s a busy weekend full of fixtures that will shape the ladder going into the business end of the season. The Suns need to pick up the points against St Kilda if they’re going to have any hope of fulfilling their finals footie ambitions. Geelong are putting together a strong run and they’ll want to make a statement against North Melbourne, while Hawthorn will be hoping that the Swans slip up against Essendon, which would give them the chance to go top if they beat the Bulldogs. And the weekend finishes with an opportunity for the Pies to right their ship against Port Adelaide, who need a win themselves to avoid slipping into the mess below them on the ladder.
