AFL: Geelong Odds On In Top-Of-The-Ladder Clash
April 25th, 2014 by TJ DilferSunday looks like it will be a day packed with interest for AFL fans, with both the Cats and the Hawks back in action after their epic clash in Round Five, plus an important game for the hopes of both the Bulldogs and Adelaide. And who knows what upsets and what drama the Anzac Day weekend will have turned up by then? Make sure you’ve got all your Round Six odds for all the games…
Both the Bulldogs and Adelaide find themselves outside the top eight after five rounds of games, but only by four points, and a win on Sunday would see either of these sides right in the mix again, so both will be keen to come away with the points. The Crows haven’t had any trouble finding goals in the past couple of weeks, and the Bulldogs look like they will go into this one understaffed defensively, so you’d say it’s the Adelaide side’s to lose – they’re your $1.65 favourites, while the odds for the Bulldogs are $2.25.
Then Hawthorn have their chance to take out all the frustrations of Round Five and that loss to the Cats, and it will be Richmond feeling the brunt of it. The odds tell us that the favourites for the flag are also the favourites for this game, at $1.17, and that Richmond will have a mountain to climb if they’re going to heap more woe onto the Hawks. That said, the Tigers have shown some flashes of form in a 2-3 start to the season, and it could be that a massive game like this is just what they need to kick things into gear: they’re a $5.00 bet.
And then the new ladder leaders, Geelong, are in action against Port Adelaide, and looking to secure that spot on top by taking the points in Round Six. And what better way to do it that a win over the new second-placed side? The Cats will have enjoyed their week after an incredible win over the Hawks that must set them as real title contenders, but the Power enjoyed a great win of their own in the last round, and will have the added incentive of possible revenge for the semi-final defeat that ended a super season for them last year. If they can beat their odds of $2.10 and take the points, and most likely the top spot on the ladder, then 2014 is set up to be another great year for the Power. Geelong go in as the favourites, though, at $1.72, and will relish the chance to really stamp their authority on the 2014 campaign. Either way, we’ll be watching, and we’ll have all our AFL odds handy, and our Round Six odds, in particular…
