AFL Odds: A Look At The Early Futures
December 14th, 2014 by TJ DilferIf you’ve got April 2nd already circled on your calendar in thick red pen, you’re probably not the only one – AFL fans are already starting to look forward to a new season, and there are already some tempting-looking AFL odds at the end of that link there that you might want to have a think about. Today we’re going to have a little look at the big bets waiting for you at online betting sites like Sportsbet – the teams who the bookies think will be the major players in 2015, the odds they’ve giving them at this early stage, and a few more good-looking bets besides…
It’s the Hawks who are the bookies’ early favourite to take the 2015 title – and what an impressive achievement that would be. Three straight premierships would make this generation of Hawthorn players the equal of any other, and we get the impression they’ll be just as hungry in 2015 as they were in 2014. They showed some real big-game form, too, at the end of last season, and if there’s one thing the drama of the finals teaches us, it’s that the business end of the season is where the winning is done. Which might be something that has been said in the Swans camp over the off-season – the Sydney boys are at odds of $4.25 to make the most of all their talent in 2015 and claim a premiership for themselves. Behind them are another side who will be desperate to take something away from next season, especially if they can find the sort of form that saw them standing proud at the top of the ladder for long stretches of 2014 before they ultimately fell away: the Power are a $5.50 bet, ahead of Fremantle at $9.00 and the rest of the chasing pack, led by North Melbourne, Geelong and the Richmond side who ended the 2014 season on such a high, and who will be the favourites in the first game of the 2015 season when they run out against Carlton on April 2nd. There’s plenty of time between now and then, of course, for you to check over the AFL odds we’ve got for you, but then there are already lots of odds you might like the look of, so why delay?
