AFL Odds: Coaches Under Pressure
January 6th, 2015 by TJ DilferWe know it’s early to be doing this, but we thought we’d have a look at which of the AFL coaches are likely to be under pressure in the 2015 season, and maybe have a guess at what it will take to get them a bit of job security. There’s always pressure on coaches, of course, and it very much comes with the territory when you take the top job, but some of the teams below are facing long AFL odds in the coming season, and whilst success doesn’t always mean winning trophies, fans do like to see some returns, not to mention the shadowy figures in the background…
Take, for example, Rodney Eade at Gold Coast. There were so many positives to take away from the performances of his emerging side in 2014 that you would think he’d built up a stock of good feeling at the Suns, but they will be ambitious to reach a first final in the coming year, and it’s increasingly a reasonable ambition, too.
For Damien Hardwick at Richmond, by contrast, you might think that just reaching a final won’t be enough. The Tigers have not yet played a second final in a season under his tenure, and there might be a feeling that if 2015 goes the same way, then it could be time for someone else to take the challenge on. He’ll be in some good company in his search for firstly the finals and then for finals wins, with Brad Scott at North Melbourne and West Coast’s Adam Simpson both likely to be under pressure to get their sides into the finals. All the AFL odds for all those sides reaching the finals, winning them, and much, much more are waiting for you at the end of the link there. Would you take the top job at those odds?
