AFL Odds: Port Adelaide Favourites Against Melbourne
July 17th, 2014 by TJ DilferThey’re a team on the slide, and the pundits are starting to circle overhead for Port Adelaide. In truth, they’ve been hit by some injury woes, and it just looks a little bit like they’ve run out of steam: after a long stint at the top that their fans were enjoying and just starting to get used to, the last five games have seen just a single win returned by the Power. We’ve got all your Round 18 odds for you: and you’ll see that Port Adelaide go into their game against Melbourne as the strong favourites, but you’d feel, too, that they’re under no small amount of pressure to produce a win that will keep them in touch with the ladder leaders, at least. The Power season needs some new life breathing back into it, and we’re hoping that they can rally for a big push at the finals – it would be a shame to see them fall off a cliff after setting the pace so well and for so long.
Then, before Round 18 breaks for the week and we have to wait to see how the chips have landed, there’s a game between the Western Bulldogs and Essendon that the Bombers will be keen to collect the points from. Sitting on the same points as the Suns and Collingwood, Essendon will be very much in the scrap for the last of the finals places unless they can find a strong run of wins from somewhere. They’re favourites on Sunday, and a win will make it three wins in a row, which would make for a few better nights’ sleep for the Essendon management whilst the other half of the teams battle it out next weekend…
