AFL Odds: Putting The Physios To Work On The Gold Coast
January 6th, 2015 by TJ DilferThe first game of the new AFL season is still a distance away, but it won’t feel much like that for the players, who will be back in work with a vengeance this week, putting in the hard graft that will pay dividends when the season’s well underway, safe in the knowledge that a strong pre-season can see a team’s AFL odds creeping down even before the good results start to arrive.
And the other people who will be working hard this week – though that’s not to say that they haven’t been hard at work since the last day of last season, mind you – are the physios and team doctors at each of the AFL teams. The injuries list can make or break a season at pretty much any stage – just look at the Gold Coast with the loss of key players in the vital final stages of the season, Gary Ablett included – and you’d better take that into consideration when you’re looking over those AFL odds we’ve got for you…
Speaking of the Suns, there’s some good news in adversity, with Gary Ablett, Jaeger O’Meara, Dion Prestia and Harvey Bennell all making their way back from the injuries that ruined their seasons and the Gold Coast effort to claim a finals spot. Only O’Meara looks like he won’t be right by the time Round 1 comes around, and you can’t overstate the importance of Ablett especially to the Suns effort in 2015 – or the importance of a good pre-season preparation for Ablett, either. Gold Coast are getting odds of $2.35 to find a finals berth in 2015 on Sportsbet as of today, but if they’re going to make it a reality, their medical team are going to have to be on song…
