AFL: Port Adelaide Odds-On Against Fremantle

May 8th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

When Port Adelaide topped the ladder as minor premiers three times in the early 2000s, they never had as good a start to a season as they will have if they win on Saturday. After seven rounds, Port Adelaide are right in the thick of things at the top, second behind the Hawks on points percentage only, and they’ve been at the top after good wins over the past few weeks. But on Saturday they face a tough test: Fremantle are never an easy side to play, and they’re even tougher to beat. When the Power and Fremantle meet on Saturday, all the pundits will be watching, and there will be no shortage of AFL fans tuning in. It’s a case of the immovable object and the irresistible force, as the robust and stingy Dockers defensive effort seeks to smother a Port Adelaide side who’ve been playing some great free-flowing football. We’re excited already. And Power fans will be excited: their side are the favourites and getting odds of $1.62. They haven’t lost at home in 2014, and they will feel that it’s about time they got one over on the Dockers, having seen defeat the last five times these two have met. A win for the Power would keep them in the mix right at the top of the ladder, while Fremantle will be looking to dig themselves into the top eight – they’re sitting in sixth after seven rounds, and they’ll want to be at least that high after Round Eight.
