AFL: Round 18 Odds For Friday And Saturday
July 15th, 2014 by TJ DilferIt’s only a few weeks ago that Port Adelaide were the side setting the pace in the 2014 season, and we were starting to talk about a minor premiership if they could hold on to their form. They couldn’t, but a look at the odds for Round 18 will show you that they have a chance to reverse their downward side, with a game against Melbourne that they’re favourites to win. But there are three games to savour before the Power are in action, with the first of them coming on Friday night.
North Melbourne look to be going well as the close of the season creep up on us, putting four points between themselves and the scrap brewing below them on the ladder with a win in Round 17. They’ll be relishing the chance to collect more points against Carlton on Friday night, and the odds tell you that’s the most likely outcome…
Then, on Saturday, Fremantle have a gilt-edged chance to continue their strong run of wins when they face St Kilda. Languishing at the foot of the ladder, the Saints have looked pretty hapless in 2014, and are without a win in recent weeks. The bookies have short odds for the Dockers to get the job done, and we’re tempted to think there’s no upset in store. Then it’s the Cats and GWS who meet to round off Saturday’s AFL entertainment, with Geelong heavy favourites, but likely putting themselves under a lot of pressure to win against a Giants side who have already claimed a big scalp or two in 2014. Geelong are right up there on the same 48 points as Hawthorn and Fremantle, and now’s not the time to slacken the pace, especially with Sydney and the Hawks set to meet a week later, on the second Saturday of a split round…
