AFL Round One: Freemantle $1.60 Odds-On Against Collingwood
February 6th, 2014 by TJ DilferThe first game of the 2014 AFL season will be an important one for both of the sides running out on March 14th, and Freemantle are the $1.60 favourites to register that all-important first win of the season against Collingwood. The Magpies are at $2.30, but their fans will be hoping that they can defy those odds and get themselves off to a winning start.
It’s maybe a tall order, though, against a Freemantle side that will already be looking towards the business end of the season, and be looking to make a statement in Round One. The Dockers have both Hawthorn and Sydney in the first five games of the season, so a winning start against Collingwood is essential to their hoping of being well placed after the opening salvos of 2014. It’s difficult to say how those first five games will pan out, and we’ll get a better idea when we’ve seen all the sides in action, but Freemantle will be desperate to make those $1.60 odds look long in the opener. Collingwood will want to make their first game a win to put a better complexion on games against Sydney and Geelong in the first three rounds, before a trip to Richmond in Round Four that offers much more optimism for their fans: they haven’t lost to Richmond since 2007.
Looking towards the end of the season, Freemantle are a $5.00 bet to claim the pennant, whilst Round One opponents Collingwood are at $13.00 on Sportsbet right now. For all your Round One odds and more info, follow the links – plus our Round One tips!
