Brisbane $1.36 Favourites Against Gold Coast
February 22nd, 2014 by TJ DilferHere are two sides who had very different fortunes in the first round of the NAB Challenge. Gold Coast snatched victory from Essendon with a last-moment score by talisman Gary Ablett, and that will have given them a huge lift psychologically right at the start of a season in which they will be expected to deliver the goods. Brisbane, on the other hand, were handed a thrashing at the hands of a rampant Hawthorn, and it was a one-sided enough game in all areas to cause some real concern in the Lions camp.
Brisbane have named a stronger squad for the face-off with the Suns, though, with some 1200 senior games’ worth of experience drafted into the side to give it a little backbone – and the result is that they are favourites to beat Gold Coast, with the bookies offering $1.36 for a Lions win, and $3.05 for a second Gold Coast victory in this year’s NAB Challenge. Having a glance over at the markets on Sportsbet right now, we’re tempted to have a look at a $2.95 Tribet that has the margin of victory by either side at anything under 16 points, though maybe we’re just hoping that this is another tight game for us to enjoy. Elsewhere, how much do you like the look of a Double at $11.00 that has Brisbane leading at the half-way stage, before Gold Coast snatch the win? Can Ablett deliver again?
