Early AFL odds: Hawthorn Will Start As $4.75 Favourites
January 24th, 2014 by TJ DilferLast year’s winners bring some serious momentum with them into this season, and they will expect to register some good wins early on in the season, with things kicking off with a trip to Brisbane top face the Lions. Hawtorn are at $1.10 to start the season with a win, and rightly so. The Lions are a long $6.50 to upset the Hawthorn fans right at the start of the season, though that might not represent too much by way of real value.
And the odds are all looking good for Hawthorn fans, unless they’re looking for some long-odds action of their side. They’re currently the favourites to take the flag come the end of the season at $4.75, just ahead of Sydney, who’re sitting on $5.00. That’s not likely to change much before the first weekend of games: Hawthorn are a strong outfit and will be tough to beat all season – in fact, you’ll get a massive $501.00 back if you’re prepared to lay a dollar down that it’ll be Hawthorn who finish the season with the least wins beside their name. In other bets, Hawthorn are a $1.55 bet to finish in the top 4, and $1.08 to finish in the top 8 (the same odds that you’ll get for Sydney and Freemantle). If you think things might not be the smooth ride that Hawthorns fans are hoping for, though, then take a look at an $8.00 for them to miss out on a spot in those top eight teams on the ladder. But which eight teams are going to go better than Hawthorn over the whole season?
