England vs Australia A: Ashes Warm-Up Game
November 6th, 2013 by G WaldorfEngland’s Ashes warm-up game against Australia A is underway in Hobart, and there will be plenty of fans keeping an eye out for how the tourists go, not to mention Darren Lehman and his coaching team. There have been some rumblings from the ECB in the run-up to the tour: concerns that the opposition will be weakened by Sheffield Shield scheduling conflicts, but the English batsmen made the most of the first warm-up match, against a select Western Australia side.
Expect more of the same as England’s top six look to clock up some time in the middle, and to get themselves well and truly used to conditions here. If you’re tempted to get your eye in for betting on the Ashes themselves, of course, then the warm-up matches can be a good time to do it. On Sportsbet right now, there are some good markets for the first Test, so if you see any evidence that you think will help you before the first test comes around on the 21st, then there could be some canny bets out there. We’re looking at the moment at $2.12 for Australia to lead after the first innings, mostly because this England side have a reputation for batting poorly in the first innings of a series. The bookies seem to leaning towards a win either way – maybe for the same reason, maybe because of the Gabba pitch – but you could pick up a $1.22 double bet for either England or Australia to win it…
