Get All The NRL Odds For Saturday 8th March

March 4th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

The new NRL season kicks off on Thursday night when the Rabbitohs and the Roosters reignite their rivalry, but we’ve got one eye on Saturday the 8th, which is shaping up to be a great night of NRL action. There’s three games to look forward to, and all the odds and the betting markets you’ll need are waiting for you right now on Sportsbet – so why not have a look through those, and make Saturday even more interesting?

First up on the 8th is a clash between Penrith Panthers and the Newcastle Knights that the bookies are calling as pretty close. The Panthers have a new look, and no shortage of fresh faces eager to make their mark, so they’ll be hoping to go better than they did last season, when a run of bad results saw them miss out on the finals place they looked like they might have earned when they were sitting in seventh with only a few games to go. At first win from this game will set them on the right track, and they’re a $1.77 bet to do just that. The Knights have suddenly got a lot of questions to answer in 2014, and they’re $2.05 in the first game. Most of those questions have been caused by Jarrod Mullen’s awful hamstring injury, which has robbed Newcastle of a key man. Their preparations were going well up to the moment he hit the turf, though, so maybe they’re further ahead than the pundits know…

The Eagles are favourites at $1.65 to beat the Storm, and will want more of the same from a squad that remains more-or-less unchanged after the near-success of last season. If the Manly squad feels unchanged, though, there’s an air of impeding upheaval at Melbourne, with a feeling that some extremely important players are nearing the end of their illustrious careers. This season could be an important one at the Storm, then, and they start their first game as a $2.25 bet.

Meticulous preparation at North Queensland has already brought them success in 2014, and they go into the last game of Saturday night as the strong $1.30 favourites. Could this be the Cowboy’s season? The Raiders will hope it’s not the Cowboys’ night on the 8th, but Canberra have an unfortunate habit of starting seasons slowly, and they have an away-from-home record that they don’t like to talk about. They’re a $3.50 bet to register a win when they make the trip to Townsville.

So we’re looking forward to a busy and very entertaining evening of NRL action on Saturday the 8th, and we’ll be checking in with the betting options at Sportsbet between now and then – we suggest you do the same!
