Harness Racing odds: Poor Draws For Seymour Trio
October 16th, 2014 by Pom de TurfAfter a thrilling evening that saw him and his wife watching their Majestic Major come home as a winner, Kevin Seymour would have had high hopes for the Gold Coast Cup at the weekend: he has three runners in the race, and all of them expected to be competitive in the Racing odds. But fate can be cruel, and it’s long odds against a repeat of last weekend’s joy after the barrier draws for the Gold Coast Cup.
Seymour’s three runners, Majestic Major, Supreme Mach and Our Pacquiao would all have been real chances in the race, but unfavourable draws for all of them have left Seymour shaking his head: ‘can you believe it? All three drew badly and its looks a complete wipe-out for us. I’m not a pessimistic type but we have little or no chance of winning from those shocking draws. How can we beat these horses when you compare draws? My role on the night will be restricted to presenting the winning trophies to rival connections while making sure they enjoy our warm Queensland hospitality. I’ll have the fingers and toes crossed for better draws next week in the Queensland Pacing Championship. I think all three of our horses are very promising; Majestic Major is now a dual feature race winner since we purchased him from New Zealand for a modest amount earlier this year while Supreme Mach has been very consistent. I was really hoping for a kind draw with Our Pacquiao because I’m quite high on him, we paid a decent amount for him but he shows great ability and looks destined for better fortunes hopefully.’
There’s no guarantee, of course, that Seymour’s trio can’t overcome poor barrier draws and unfavourable Racing odds at the weekend to come home for him, but we can feel his disappointment a little bit. Luckily, he’s a millionaire businessman, and he should be able to find comfort in that, or in other races that these three good prospects will be involved in…
