Hawthorn Getting Odds of $1.55 Against North Melbourne
February 20th, 2014 by TJ DilferIf the NAB Challenge is as much about building momentum for the season proper as it is about winning the Challenge itself, then you’d have to say that Hawthorn are bang on track. They disposed of Brisbane comprehensively in their first NAB fixture, and they’re favourites again for their meeting with North Melbourne on Friday night, with the bookies at Sportsbet giving them $1.55 to make it two wins from two games. Their fans will expect another win, too, after the performance against the Lions, and it will be up to North Melbourne to put up some stiffer opposition than Brisbane did.
And the Roos will want to lay down a marker against the reigning premiers, especially after they lost their game last week to Carlton. If North Melbourne are serious about making a push for the flag, then this could be a first step on that road. It’s not make or break by any means, but Roos fans will want to know going into the season proper that their side can be competitive with the very best. The bookies have North Melbourne as a $15.00 bet to win the flag, and they’re at $3.00 to finish in the top four. Before any of that, though, they’re $2.40 outsiders to beat the Hawks. We’re looking forward to seeing some of the quality that they’re hoping will keep them in the mix come the end of the seaaon on Friday night, if only because that will mean a great game with a Hawthorn side who were rampant last week.
