Here Comes State Of Origin!
May 14th, 2014 by TJ DilferIt’s not long now before the Blues and Maroons boys pull on those revered jerseys and run out to make history again: May 28th is the date of the first game of the 2014 State of Origin series, and the build-up starts here for us! Of course, we’ve got all your State of Origin odds, and we’ll be casting an eye over the news stories that are starting to gather pace as the date of that first game creeps closer. Obviously, we’ll be focussing on team news and changing odds as the series draws near…
The news this week from the NSW camp is about the availability of some key players – and it’s nothing short of a coach’s nightmare. It looks like the sleepless nights have started early for Laurie Daley, with news of an injury to Andrew Fifita, Greg Bird likely to miss the opening game on a charge, and some ridiculous nightclub incident involving Mitchell Pearce all keeping him tossing and turning. Queensland, by comparison, seem to be building fairly smoothly towards the first game: and there’s a weight of expectation on them after eight straight series wins. The Maroons are the favourites for the first game at odds of $1.45, while the Blues are a $2.75 bet.
