Melbourne Cup Odds and Tips: Focus On Fiorente
October 31st, 2013 by Pom de TurfGai Waterhouse has plenty to be happy about going into the final preparations for the Melbourne Cup, with her horse Fiorente sitting alone on the shortest odds to win the Race That Stops A Nation.
A good performance in the Cox Plate has done nothing at all to change Fiorente’s status as favourite a week or so out from the Cup, and it looks like such a tough run has done nothing to upset his preparations, either. Fiorente’s jockey on November 5th will be Damien Oliver, and he was up-beat after a look at him following the Cox Plate run: ‘the fact that he had a pretty tough run going into a Melbourne Cup and that he’s pulled up well, it’s going to be exciting,’ he said. And owner Gai Waterhouse sounds pleased by her big Melbourne Cup chance with a week to go, too: ‘I’ve never had a better chance going into a Melbourne Cup. He’s sensational.’
As we’ve said, Fiorente is currently the favourite for the Cup, and a $6.00 bet on Sportsbet right now. Behind him are Mount Athos at $9.00 and Hawkspur at $10.00. Any of those three catch your interest for a bet? Or are you looking deeper into the field? Either way, you can find all your odds and bets by following this link: Melbourne Cup odds 2013…
