Melbourne Cup Odds and Tips: Ryan Moore Will Ride Dandino
October 25th, 2013 by Pom de TurfMelbourne Cup hopeful Dandino will be ridden by top English jockey Ryan Moore come November 5th, with Moore replacing Craig Williams in the saddle. It’s a switch that will lend a little bit of interesting subtext to the Cup, as Williams will be aboard rival international import Mount Athos. We can’t help thinking that Moore will be happy with the ride he’s ended up with, given Dandino’s strong Caulfield Cup run that has left him as a $10.00 second-favourite for the Melbourne Cup.
And Dandino’s trainers are happy with the condition he’s in after the Caulfield and as he starts he preparations for Cup Day. Handler Paul Francis said he came through the Caulfield with just a few battle scars, and nothing to trouble him in the build-up towards November 5th. There was plenty to please the trainers, too, in his Caulfield Cup run: ‘the way he finished I think he’ll be suited by the extra distance in the Melbourne Cup. He’s only dropped seven kilos, which with that heat and the atmosphere is pretty amazing,’ said Francis. As we mentioned above, you’ll get $10.00 for Dandino right now on Sportsbet, whilst the favourite Fiorente is a $6.50 bet and the horse that beat Dandino to win the Caulfield Cup, Fawkner, is at $34.00…
