Melbourne Cup Odds: Punters Really Do Admire Rakti

The Japanese stayer has already tasted success in the 2014 Melbourne Spring, and all the media attention will have set his connections dreaming of a Melbourne Cup win to take back to Japan, as well. It’s no small achievement, of course, to win the Melbourne Cup, and Admire Rakti will have to be at or very close to his absolute best to see off a field of horses that’s going to be bristling with talent, and full of horses who could easily win it themselves. It looks like a particularly strong challenge will come from Lucia Valentina, who you can see from those Racing odds is the bookies’ second favourite for the race, and who is seeing a good deal of backing herself from punters. Many will be thinking back to Admire Rakti’s Caulfield Cup win and remembering the way Lucia Valentina ate up ground towards the end to put the first two home under pressure. She finished third that day, but she’s a half a kilo to the good over Admire Rakti for the Melbourne Cup, and that could make the difference…
