Melbourne Cup Racing Odds: A Careful Return For The Offer
September 3rd, 2014 by Pom de TurfGai Waterhouse will be looking to repeat her Melbourne Cup victory of 2013, but she won’t have the luxury of Fiorente to help her do it – so she’s looking to manage her best prospect quite carefully in the run-up to the Melbourne Spring Season. That best prospect is likely to be The Offer – he’s the favourite for the Melbourne Cup in your Racing odds as of today – and he’s had a good trial in the past week, or at least good enough to keep Waterhouse happy as the Melbourne Cup comes closer.
The Offer has an impressive tally of wins and placings from the races in his career to date, so he’s certainly got the quality to do Waterhouse proud: it’s all a question of peaking at the right time, and it sounds like Waterhouse feels he isn’t quite there yet: ‘I thought his trial was nice on Saturday, but I don’t think he’s fully fit. He ran on, but he didn’t run right to the post. Tom (Berry) was pleased, but I don’t think he was quite fit. I’ll keep him in Sydney and, weather permitting, will trial him between races next Saturday, then put him on a float to Melbourne.’
Whatever the path Waterhouse charts for The Offer through the Spring Festival to the Melbourne Cup, he’ll be a fixture of the Racing odds we’ve got for you at the end of that link. That route to the Melbourne Cup could well start with the Dato Tan Chin Nam on September 6th, so keep an eye out for how The Offer goes – you won’t be the only one!
