Melbourne Cup Racing Odds: A Couple Of Japanese Prospects To Watch
September 11th, 2014 by Pom de TurfA bigger spectacle every year, with a brighter field of international stars running it, the Melbourne Cup is very much improved by the overseas horses who make the long trip to our shores, waiting patiently in quarantine for their chance to run in the big race. But there has been a little bit of international flavour mostly missing for the past few years – an outbreak of equine flu has kept a number of potential contenders from Japan out of the Racing odds and out of the running for the Melbourne Cup, which has been a shame.
But it looks like that could be an era that’s passing, with a couple of Japanese horses in the nominations for the 2014 Melbourne Cup, and both of them real chances to take the race, too. Admire Rakti has been a consistent performer for a number of seasons, and the 7-year-old has enough success and experience behind him to convince punters that he’s a prospect. Also travelling from Japan is an exciting prospect in Bande, who’s an up-and-coming stayer who comes into the 2014 Melbourne Spring very highly regarded indeed, and mentioned more than a few times in comparison to 2006 Melbourne Cup winner Delta Blues.
It remains to be seen if these two classy stayers are the thin end of a wedge of Japanese contenders for the Melbourne Cup, but it looks like both could be in the mix for this year’s race, and we’ve got all the Racing odds for them and the rest of the field waiting for you if you click the link!
