Melbourne Cup Racing Odds: Tres Blue Ruled Out
August 22nd, 2014 by Pom de TurfWhilst it’s shaping up to be as exciting a Melbourne Spring as we’re all hoping for, there is a note of disappointment this week at the news that French import Tres Blue won’t be involved – an injury to his left foreleg has ruled him out of the whole Spring Racing Festival, and he won’t feature at all in those Racing odds between now and the Melbourne Cup in November.
It’s a second piece of bad news for Gai Waterhouse in as many weeks, coming on the heels of the retirement of Carlton House, whose arthritic joints apparently can’t stand the punishment of another Melbourne Spring campaign. It’s a couple of blows that could make Waterhouse think the stars are aligning against her in her bid to repeat last year’s Melbourne Cup success.
Or maybe not – she’s been in the Racing game long enough to know that it has its ups and downs, and she still has The Offer looking good and dominating the early Racing odds for both the Melbourne Cup and the Caulfield Cup. He might not get the support he was expecting from his stablemates in the 2014 Melbourne Spring, but The Offer could easily be the horse grabbing the headlines…
