Melbourne Spring Odds: Raiders Target Caulfield Meeting
October 9th, 2014 by Pom de TurfThere’s a big weekend in store at Caulfield, with the Caulfield Guineas and plenty more to enjoy, and lots to look at in the Racing odds for what will be not only a great day of Racing, but a really useful guide to how some of the big races still to come in the Melbourne Spring might shape up.
And there are a few key overseas prospects in action at Caulfield – all of them horses you’re going to want to keep an eye on. You’ll have to wait another week before you get your first chance to see red-hot Japanese imports Bande and Admire Rakti in action, but this weekend offers a good look at the crop of horses from the Northern Hemisphere who will be contesting this year’s Melbourne Spring Festival. Look out for German stayers Protectionist and Nuntius in the Herbert Power Stakes, which is over 2400m, and also for a couple of English raiders in the same race: Van Percy and Renew have both had their fair share of media attention in the build-up, and all four are chances to take the win. Elsewhere, the Caulfield Stakes could feature Side Glance, fresh from a win in the Mackinnon Stakes, and there could be a chance to see Marco Botti-trained Guest of Honour in the Toorak Handicap.
Obviously, we’ve got all the Racing odds you’ll need to get yourself ready for a busy weekend, and we’ll be back with all the news and views after the weekend, which is shaping up to be a good first chance to size up the strength of the European contingent in the 2014 Melbourne Spring…
