Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: A Strong Memsie Stakes Field
August 27th, 2014 by Pom de TurfThe 2014 Memsie Stakes nominations suggest that it will be a star-studded race, and a decent first look at some of the horses that will feature heavily in the Racing odds as we go through the Melbourne Spring. Messene is the horse with the shortest odds beside his name on Sportsbet as of today, but there are a handful of champions in the field to press him…
Boban and Foreteller will be giving Chris Waller hopes of a win – both have real quality about them. Boban was something of a sensation last year, boasting a cracking record of five wins from five starts! And Foreteller could be a real chance, with a win over Puissance De Lune in recent times, and plenty of experience to bring to bear.
Puissance De Lune, for her part, is going to have a lot of punters and pundits watching her closely after an injury-affected year, and she’s rightly up amongst the horses with shortest odds.
It’s the Hawkes brothers who will likely have the favourite on the day, with Messene looking like a good bet, but stablemate Toydini is an exciting prospect, too. That said, Messene ran second behind Sweet Idea in the Missile Stakes, so she’s a real chance to beat him again. Throw in Fawkner, Happy Trails, strong Kiwi import Silent Achiever and Moment Of Change, and you can see what we mean when we say the 2014 Memsie Stakes features a star-studded cast.
Who are you backing to come home ahead of all that talent? We’ve got all the Racing odds for you if you want to make a bet…
