Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Carlton House Preparing For the Cox Plate
July 29th, 2014 by Pom de TurfWe noted in these pages yesterday that Kirramosa was out for a gallop at Randwick this week (read the article here) – but there was another horse getting a run on the same day that you’ll want to be keeping tabs on between now and the Spring Season: Carlton House is very likely to feature in the Racing odds, with the Cox Plate his target for the Spring.
Back in April, Carlton House finished a respectable third behind It’s A Dundeel in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and he’s also run well in a couple of other notable races: second in the Prince of Wales’ Stakes behind So You Think, and, here in Australia, another second – a close one – behind Silent Achiever in the Ranvet Stakes. Gai Waterhouse representative Mark Newnham confirmed the projected path for Carlton House in the Spring: ‘he is still getting fit and will need another strong gallop and a trial. The aim is the Cox Plate but we are not sure yet when he will resume.’
So expect to see Carlton House featuring in the Racing odds in the run-up to the Spring Season, and – if all goes well – in particular as we get towards October and the Cox Plate. Follow the link to get all the odds you’ll need, and check back in with us for more news as we get it…
