Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Internationals To Watch – Slade Power
September 24th, 2014 by Pom de TurfMuch will be made of the overseas raiders in the 2014 Melbourne Spring – and it’s fair to say that there will be plenty of classy prospects making their way to Australia this year, and that you’ll see lots of them featuring heavily in the Racing odds for big races throughout the Spring Festival. So what we thought we’d do is take a closer look, over the next weeks or so, at a few of the international horses who will be grabbing the headlines.
We’re going to start with excellent Irish 5-year-old Slade Power. This is a horse with a long string of wins on his CV – we make 10 wins from 18 starts – but the attention will be on his most recent wins as the Melbourne Spring hots up for him. 2014 has already been a successful year for Slade Power, with three victories that suggest he might be coming into the Melbourne Spring in some of his best form. And it’s likely to be his last Melbourne Spring, too, so his team will want him to go out with a bang. Slade Power comes to Australia with the tag of Europe’s best sprinter in many eyes, and it will be fascinating to see what happens if he and Lankan Rupee find themselves on the same track in 2014…
Make sure you’ve got all the Racing odds you need as Slade Power makes preparations for what will hopefully be a magnificent send-off in the 2014 Melbourne Spring – and watch this space for more!
