Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Memsie Stakes For Moment Of Change
August 27th, 2014 by Pom de TurfWet weather might have been giving Peter Moody a few headaches, but he will go into this weekend in high spirits, you’d think – he has a couple of genuine prospects in the Memsie Stakes, and one of them is Moment Of Change, who in the conditions and over the distance is looking the better of the two in the Racing odds on Sportsbet right now.
Moment Of Change is at odds of $6.50 as of today, and he’s been working at the Caulfield track in preparation for the big race. Last time out, on August 16th, he went into the Listed Regal Roller Stakes as the favourite and lost out to Hard Stride, but for the Memsie Stakes Moody likes what he’s seeing: ‘Moment Of Change worked super here at Caulfield this morning and he’s trained-on nicely since his first up run. He has a massive weight drop and he always runs well at this track and distance. He is certainly the pick of my two and I’d be disappointed if he’s not in the mix.’
Also running for Moody in the Memsie Stakes is Dissident, who was diverted from the Warwick Stakes because of the heavy ground, and who is looking to get his Spring Campaign going this weekend. Moody wasn’t so confident of Dissident, but you suspect that he’s just looking for Dissident to put in a decent run, building momentum for a tilt at the Cox Plate later in the Spring: ‘he actually got a bit lost working at Caulfield this morning. Dissident hasn’t been in the Melbourne direction for a while and he hasn’t really been in Melbourne much since he was a two-year-old so he might take benefit out of the experience. I’m looking forward to getting him onto the bigger tracks like in the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington, that type of race.’
So look out for both Dissident and Moment Of Change this weekend, and in the Racing odds as we head towards the Melbourne Spring…
