Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Tramway Stakes Run For Kirramosa
September 5th, 2014 by Pom de TurfThe Caulfield Cup will be the target for classy mare Kirramosa, but there’s going to have to be some racing for her between now and October 18th if she’s going to arrive at the Caulfield Cup with the right sort of form behind her to win it. She’s one of the horses who’s going to have plenty of attention in the Racing odds in the run-up to the Caulfield Cup, and the races she runs as preparation will get some pretty close scrutiny, and they’ll tell us how well she’s shaping up.
Kirramosa had six months without racing after a fetlock injury ruled her out of the Autumn campaign in 2014, and she came back with a creditable run in the Missile Stakes in the second weekend in August. But that’s by no means enough to bring her up to speed for the Caulfield Cup, and so she’s going to have a run in the Tramway Stakes this weekend, too. It sounds like trainer John Sargent has a careful plan for the race, too: ‘they will go pretty quick up front inside her, so get back, run home type job to get her ready for the George Main and then either the Turnbull or Craven Plate and into the Caulfield Cup. We are going to have to get some miles into her legs now going into those races. Let’s hope that everything will be right on Saturday and it clears up a bit. She still had a good blow (after completing trackwork), so I think that she is still one run away from being right at her peak and this will top her off for up to a mile onwards. We planned to have her ready for October and November and it is all a means for a means.’
Kirramosa is likely to be a horse who’s very much a chance in the Caulfield Cup, and maybe another race or two, so she’s worth keeping sight of in those Racing odds at the end of the link there…
