NRL: Can Warriors Win With $1.45 Odds?
March 25th, 2014 by TJ DilferRound Three of the NRL is behind us, and we’re starting to look ahead and see what good Round Four odds there might be waiting for us. There have been some cracking games to enjoy so far in what has seemed like a busy season – and an injury list that just keeps getting longer, making us think that missing players will be a huge factor as we get towards the business end of the season. The other thing that this season has coughed up so far is unexpected results, and we can’t get enough of it as fans – but it does make the betting more interesting!
The New Zealand Warriors are finally on the board in 2014, registering a win over the Cowboys in Round three that will have calmed some nerves amongst their fans, at least. Warriors coach Matthew Elliott won’t be allowing himself the luxury of a big sigh of relief, though: he’s a man under some pressure after a disappointing start to the kiwi side’s 2014 campaign. He will perhaps allow himself a smile if the Warriors can come out of Round Four with a win against Wests Tigers – the New Zealand side are the favourites going into the game, with odds of $1.45 meaning they’re looking good in the bookies’ eyes, with the Tigers odds sitting at $2.60…
Next up on Saturday the Eels and the Panthers go head-to-head, and both these sides will be looking to pick up points. There has been a surprising amount of attention on the Penrith cheerleaders (maybe not that surprising, if we think about it) in the early season, but there have been good things happening on the field, too. It’s the Eels who would have been grateful for some cheerleaders to take focus away from their mauling by the Roosters in Round Two, but they did put in a strong performance in the second half of last week’s clash with the Sea Eagles – they lost that one, too, but they will be keen to carry their good performance forward and challenge the Panthers. At Sportsbet right now, the odds for the Eels are $2.08, and the Panthers are getting $1.75 odds.
Finally, Saturday night sees the Bulldogs against Melbourne Storm, who are one of only two sides to still be undefeated at this stage. Canterbury were on the wrong side of that tight Panthers game, with a conversion from right out on the touchline denying them, while the Storm have swept all before them in 2014 so far, and are looking very good indeed. As far as the odds go, you’ll get $2.65 for the Bulldogs, but the Storm are the $1.48 favourites to win this one and stay unbeaten in the 2014 campaign.
