NRL Odds: Bellamy Sanguine Over Storm Schedule
December 19th, 2014 by TJ DilferYou might have seen some mention of the Storm fixture list for the 2015 NRL season in the press over the past few days. We’ve certainly seen some negative reactions from Storm fans, though it has to be said there hasn’t been too much movement in the NRL odds this far out from the first round: the Storm are at odds of $12.00, and you’re welcome to make up your own mind whether you think that represents value or not…
Melbourne have a tough start to the 2015 season – one that their fans are certainly less than happy about. The crux of it is a lot of time on the road, and on the way to tough, crucial fixtures, too. The other potential problem for the Storm is going to be a number of Monday night fixtures – which by necessity mean a shortened turn-around and recovery time for the players – in the first half of the season: six of them in the first 20 rounds, in fact. But there’s one man who didn’t have anything negative to say about the fixture list, and that was coach Craig Bellamy, who had a healthy little bit of perspective to offer at a press conference this week: ‘it seems a bit petty to stand here and complain about a draw when you consider what happened last night in Sydney. We will get through the draw and, like I said, we haven’t got too much to complain about. It sort of averages out, you get a few at home and a few away – we will handle the draw and go from there.’
Which seems like an impressively grown-up way to approach the whole thing to us. The Storm, if they have ambitions of making the 2015 season a winning one, are going to need to beat the best sides in the NRL, and the chances are they’re going to have to do it on the road, and on Monday nights, too. We’ve got all sorts of NRL odds for you if you click the link, and a good number of them will feature Melbourne, who will be real contenders for the title if they can come through the first 20 weeks in good shape…
