NRL Odds: Early 2015 Season News
December 11th, 2014 by TJ DilferYou might be forgiven for thinking that this is a time when you can give the ticker a bit of a rest from all the excitement of an NRL season – and especially after the thrilling end to the 2014 campaign. And you’d be right – to an extent. There isn’t the usual barrage of games coming your way each and every weekend – you’ll have to wait for March and the start for the season proper for that. But that doesn’t mean that we haven’t got some NRL odds for you to have a glance over at this early stage, and if you’ve had one eye on the news lately, you’ll see that there’s no lack of stories that might alter your thinking about those NRL odds, and maybe hint at some unexpected value…
There have been the usual brushes with the law by NRL players in the headlines in recent weeks – the PR department at the NRL are already earning their wages for the next season. Josh Papalii and Greg Bird will feel like they got off lightly, though, when they look at the cases of Jamil Hopoate and Craig Field. It’s sad to see Rugby hitting the press for all the wrong reasons, even in the off season, and we’re probably not alone in hoping that clubs and the NRL can find a way to keep the message positive in 2015. And, speaking of positive (and turning our attention back to the game), there was good news for Darius Boyd this week, when it was confirmed that his ankle surgery went off without a hitch – he could be back and playing for the Broncos as early as May 2015, which won’t hurt them at all in the NRL odds we’re seeing.
It’s not all good injury news, mind you. Cameron Smith will have an uncertain start to the 2015 season for the Storm – the Australia captain will carry the ankle injury he picked up in the Storm’s last game of 2014 into 2015, putting him in doubt, and no doubt leaving him incredibly frustrated, as well as raising questions about the workload of NRL players. We’ll come back to the issue in these pages again – in the meantime check out those NRL odds and see if there’s any you like the look of!
