NRL Odds For The Charity Shield
February 7th, 2015 by TJ DilferWe’re underway, in a manner of speaking. The 2015 NRL season is upon us if you’re prepared to consider the Auckland Nines as the starting gun for the new campaign (and we are!), so we’ll be bringing you all the news and NRL odds you need from this point on to keep to up-to-the-minute with everything that’s happening and everything that you need…
The next game on our radar is the Charity Shield clash between the Rabbitohs and the Dragons, and it’s set to be an intriguing encounter for more than a few reasons. We’ll be talking elsewhere in these pages about the Dragons forwards and the challenges they’ll be squaring up to this year, and the attitude they’ll need in approaching that stiff challenge – the Charity Shield is the first taste of how they’ll get on. It’s a good chance to see a couple of the key teams in the 2015 title race in action – and not in the Nines format, but with full sides out and with pre-season bragging rights on offer. This is likely to be more of a genuine test for both teams, and will give us something to consider when we’re assessing those NRL odds. Look out for Alex Johnston, Glenn Stewart, and Tim Grant, whose performances will be closely scrutinised, as well as Benji Marshall and young Euan Aitken. All of those guys are going to be worth watching.
And spare a thought for the referees. There will be, under new guidelines, ten officials at the Charity Shield game, and we’re as curious as anyone else to see how they get on. Here’s hoping that they don’t have too much of a say in the result, which, in case you were wondering, is more likely (say the bookies) to go to the Rabbitohs: they’re seeing odds of $1.50 where it’s $2.60 for a Dragons win on Sportsbet right now…
