NRL Odds: Lewis To Captain Sharks At Nines
January 15th, 2015 by TJ DilferIt’s been a long break (though it will have felt much longer for the fans than it will have felt for the players, who have been working hard to prepare themselves for 2015), but the NRL season is coming back around again, and we’re starting to see NRL odds available on our favourite online betting sites.
And the first action of the new season is going to be a relatively new tradition that we’re getting used to enjoying: the Auckland Nines tournament. It’s a format that’s fantastic for the fans, and we get the impression that it could be a format that’s fantastic for the game, as well, as it’s a very popular export and a great ambassador for the game. The other thing that the Nines is great for is giving the punters a look at the key players for the NRL franchises – it’s by no means a foolproof guide to early season form, but it can give you a bit of an indication as to which sides might be better value than others in the NRL odds we’re seeing.
So we’ll be keeping an eye out over the next couple of weeks for news and opinion as the Nines come closer. For instance, we’re hearing this week that the Sharks will be captained by Luke Lewis at the Nines. Cronulla will be missing a number of their big players at the Nines, by the sound of it, but Lewis’ appointment is an interesting, especially when you consider that it’s apparently by way of a reward for some excellent pre-season work. So watch out for Lewis at the Nines, and in the regular season, too – he could be a key player for the Sharks in their 2015 campaign…
