NRL Odds: Round 22 Is Done
August 12th, 2014 by TJ DilferThere’s no let-up in the ferocity of the NRL fixtures that keep coming thick and fast, especially at the top of the ladder, and there were some more results in Round 22 to confound the pundits and to keep things interesting in the top eight. That said, we’ve got all the odds for Round 23 lined up for you – and it could be the round that dashes the finals hopes of some teams, and stokes the ambitions of others…
This year is shaping up to be one of the closest in living memory in terms of the scrap for those finals spots – there’s a very real possibility that a side with 30 points could miss out on a finals berth for the first time ever. That could be a bitter pill to swallow for a couple of sets of fans, especially after a season that has seen its fair share of upsets. Round 23 could offer up more of the same: the Broncos will certainly be hoping to overturn odds of $3.15 when they meet the Rabbitohs on Thursday night. They’ll definitely need the points if they’re going to force their way into the top eight.
Friday night’s Bulldogs – Eels clash will be massive, as it could be absolutely make or break for both teams. In fact, it could easily be the winner of Friday night’s game that will be the side who claims the last finals spot – you couldn’t imagine a higher-pressure game, and we’re already licking our chops in anticipation.
Then, on Saturday, the Storm have the chance to put the disappointment of last week behind them. They had been building momentum at just about the right time, and climbing the table steadily, but they came up against a Knights side who pulled off an unlikely comeback win. Round 23 is their chance to get themselves back on track!
