NRL Odds: Titans Lose Bird
January 3rd, 2015 by TJ DilferGold Coast Titans co-captain Greg Bird had an end to 2014 that he’ll be wanting to forget, to say the least. It’s going to be difficult for him to put behind him, you’d think, but the big question is whether you think it’ll affect the NRL odds for the Titans, as well…
After a brush with the police resulted from the spectacularly ill-advised spot Bird chose to make an pit-stop on the day after his wedding, there were always going to be consequences. You could reasonably expect the new Mrs Bird to be less than impressed, but the Titans took a dim view of the incident, as well, and Bird won’t start the 2015 season with the role of co-captain. They fined him into the bargain, and he’s pretty much on his last warning at Gold Coast, so you’d have to think that his preparation would have to be affected.
And then, to pile the misery on, Bird pulled up in training last week with a knee injury that couldn’t have come at a worse time. We’re not sure how bad the knee is, but it’s another set-back for Bird and the Titans. Here’s hoping that things start to get better at Gold Coast, or an already-imposing challenge that faces them in the 2015 season will just get more daunting: in the NRL odds on Sportsbet right now, you can see that the Titans are a long $67.00 bet to win the title in 2015, but a possibly more tempting $4.00 to claim a place in the final eight come the business end of the season. Any takers?
