April 1st, 2014 by G WaldorfYou have probably heard the news by now. Harry Kewell, veteran Socceroos forward, and arguably one of Australia’s greatest, has decided to hang up his boots at the end of the A-League season. Perhaps he’s been looking at Australia’s World Cup odds, and doesn’t feel like he’s up for the challenge at 35 – or perhaps he feels it’s the ideal time for a new crop of young Socceroos to get Read the rest of this entry »

April 1st, 2014 by TJ DilferHawthorn are looking strong. We’re only two rounds into the AFL season, but already the depth of their squad has been hinted at. After a good win in Round One over Brisbane and a closer one against Essendon a week ago, the Hawks are showing strength all through the squad, and all around the park – Matt Suckling looked like he was getting back to good form against Essendon, and that will only make Hawthorn fans happier after two wins from two games. The reigning premiers continue Read the rest of this entry »

March 31st, 2014 by TJ DilferThe Roosters are the team to beat in 2014, it looks like, and they are the shortest odds to take the title, sitting at $4.25 on Sportsbet right now and carrying the favourites tag for the time being. But if the Sydney side are the team to beat, then Manly were the team to do it in Round Four, sneaking a great game by 8 points. What will Round Five serve up for NRL fans? All the NRL 2014 odds you need are on Sportsbet, including all the odds for a coming round that could see things shaken up even further in the NRL…
The Roosters are back in action after their defeat by the Sea Eagles, and it’s against Canterbury that they will be looking to set their season right and get things back on track. They are the $1.33 favourites to do just that, but the Bulldogs will have aspirations of their own when these two sides meet on the 4th, especially after a Round Four destruction of Melbourne that has given them real momentum. Canterbury are a $3.20 bet to grab a win and put some pressure on the teams ahead of them on the ladder in Round Five…
The other game on Friday night is a clash between the Broncos and the Eels. Both these teams are coming off the back of good wins, but they’re in very different places on the ladder. The Eels have struggled in patches – they went down to Manly in Round Three, and suffered a record defeat at the hands of the Roosters in Round Two – so it remains to be seen which Eels side shows up on Friday. Either way, they will have to be on top form to overcome a Broncos side that’s very much in contention at the top of the ladder at this early stage in the season. The Broncos are the favourites at $1.35, whilst you’ll get $3.00 for a Parramatta win.

March 29th, 2014 by G WaldorfThe draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, you’ve almost certainly heard by now, has not been kind to the Socceroos. You just have to look at the Australia World Cup odds to see how heavily the bookies think things are stacked against them. In fact, the words ‘group of death’ have been heard in relation to Group B, in which Australia find themselves – now that’s a Read the rest of this entry »

March 27th, 2014 by G WaldorfIt’s been a busy week for Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglu, with the Asian Cup draw taking attention away from the process of making sure he’s putting together his best squad for the FIFA World Cup. That’s a tough-enough task, given the outlook for Australia – have a look at all of Australia’s World Cup odds by following the link – but we like Postecoglu’s attitude, and we suspect he’s got at least one eye on the future.
