Rabbitohs v Roosters – Game of the season?
September 5th, 2013 by Les HThe oldest derby in NRL sees Sydney v Sydney in a straight fight for the 2013 minor premiership. It’s Rabbitohs v Roosters and it promises to be an enthralling and brutal match up, and maybe a preview of the NRL Grand Final..
The Rabbitohs are favourites at odds of $1.55 but this game has the potential to be a real contest right up to the final few minutes.
Whilst the Rabbitohs started the season very well, injuries caused mayhem which allowed the slower starting Roosters to move into top spot, and seemingly having the minor premiership sewn up with just 3 games to go. But unexpected losses against Cronulla and Gold Coast have left the Roosters reeling, and South Sydney regained pole position.
The Rabbitohs name an unchanged team from that that beat Wests Tigers last week, while the Roosters have Roger Tuivasa-Sheck out with ankle knack, Shaun Kenny-Dowall moves to the wing and Mitchell Aubusson slides into centre, with Aiden Guerra covering him in the back row. Tinirau Arona joins the squad.
Interestingly the last time these two teams ranked 1st and 2nd at the end of the regular season was way back in 1937.
