Racing: Caulfield And Melbourne Cups In Prospect For Kirramosa
July 28th, 2014 by Pom de TurfKirramosa was robbed of the chance to confirm her staying credentials in the Autumn, but trainer John Sargent will be very pleased indeed to see her back to full health and back out on the track again. And Kirramosa is a name we’ll be keeping in mind as the Spring Season comes closer, and it’s one we expect to see featuring heavily in the Racing odds on sites like Sportsbet…
Jockey Tommy Berry, on board for a track gallop for Kirramosa that went well, was full of praise for her form: ‘she pulled up like she hadn’t been around. She is in great order.’ And trainer John Sargent seemed to be full of confidence, too, when he spoke to the press: ‘I think she is a genuine stayer for the Cups but sometimes they don’t take that step as four-year-olds. She will start off in the Missile Stakes and step up in distance from there. The Epsom Handicap over 1600 metres could also be an option.’
And that confidence could be well placed, particularly if Kirramosa is able to get back to the sort of form that saw her win the VRC Oaks in 2013 – she already has a couple of wins at distances over 1200m, and there will be plenty of punters who like the Racing odds for Kirramosa if she shows anything like last year’s form as we get closer to the Caulfield Cup and to the Melbourne Cup, too.
